FAQs

  • ABSOLUTELY NO REFUNDS, RETURNS OR EXCHANGES

Each nail is custom made and cannot be refunded, returned or exchanged. Stoned Metal meticulously fits each nail to the individual finger-which is why an accurate, well done cast is so important. Customers are responsible for making a hand cast and shipping it to Stoned Metal. Hand cast quality is the responsibility of the customer, see FAQs for more details.

Every nail order will include a phone appointment with the artist Willie to discuss and confirm individual nail details. Changes, cancellations and refunds can be made during that first phone appointment. After this appointment no refunds will be allowed. Refunds will be issued at full price minus the cost of transaction fees (3.49%+fixed fee per PayPal). Please allow 2-3 weeks for refund to fully process.

  • What are the material/metal options?

At this time, Stoned Metal offers nails in sterling silver or gold. Gold nails are astronomically more expensive due to the market price of gold compared to silver. If you are interested you can look up Gold:Silver ratio for more information. Willie must work much slower with no room for error with Gold. Gold nails are twice the cost of a silver nail, PLUS the cost of the weight of gold for your finished nails which ends up being nearly 3x the cost of a silver nail. Willie waits for the nails to be completed to charge for the weight of gold so you are only charged for the material you receive. If you buy gold nails, you will have to pay for the gold material as an additional cost after they are made and before Willie will ship your nails. The cost of gold varies daily with the market. As of writing this section 2/4/25 the market cost of gold equals approximately $80-$90 per nail. This number will be variable depending on the market cost of gold, type of nail you order, and size of your nail. See PRICING page for more details and examples.

  • What payment methods do you accept?

At this time, due to credit card processing fees, Stoned Metal only accepts payments via PayPal. We will accept more methods in the future, but not at this time. Payment plans are not currently available with Stoned Metal but may be an option through PayPal independent of Stoned Metal. You can link your debit card, credit card, or bank account to PayPal for a payment method. Please have PayPal ready prior to placing your order.

  • How do they stick?

Nail glue! The nails are heavily etched on the back to help the surface and glue adhere to your nail. We recommend starting with a clean nail bed with cuticles manicured. Wiping with an alcohol pad will clear the surface of any oils or contaminants. Apply a small amount of nail glue, press, and hold for at least 30 seconds. Use extra care until nail glue is fully dried.

  • How do I remove them?

There are multiple methods to remove the nails. The easiest way will be using acetone to loosen and remove the glue. Acetone has not hurt the silver in Willie’s personal experience. For a gentler option and for gold, you can soak the nails in warm soapy water then use an orange wood stick or cuticle pusher to lift the metal nail off the natural nail.

  • What if I lose one?

Stoned Metal will keep your hand cast on file. If you lose a nail and need to replace it, you are eligible for 20% off base nail price. Please supply previous order number or email associated with order for proof of previous purchase. Special add ons are full price. Email stonedmetaljewelry@gmail.com with “REPLACEMENT” in subject line to start replacement process.

  • How long does it take to get the product?

This is a variable answer.  Once you place an order, Willie will reach out to schedule a phone appointment. During this call, we’ll discuss your order details and expected completion timeframe. While our general lead time is at least 8 weeks, it could be much longer depending on the volume of orders ahead of yours. You can cancel your order for a full refund during the phone appointment if you feel like it is not the right choice for you, or if the time frame is too long. However, after this appointment, cancellations or refunds will not be allowed.

  • Can I edit my order after placing it?

In most cases, yes. Once you place an order, Willie will reach out to schedule a phone appointment. During this call, we’ll discuss your order details and expected completion timeframe. You’ll have the opportunity to make changes or add-ons during the phone appointment. You can cancel your order for a full refund during the phone appointment if you feel like it is not the right choice for you, or if the time frame is too long. However, after this appointment, cancellations or refunds will not be allowed and changes are on a case by case basis. If you want to change the material of your order (silver/gold) this must be done at the time of the initial call—changes to material will not be allowed after this call.

  • How do I make a hand cast?

Customers are responsible for making a hand cast and shipping it to Stoned Metal. We can discuss casting during phone appointment with our newest and best recommendations. We recommend buying a casting kit from Amazon with good reviews. We personally have used Luna Bean with adequate results. Hand casting can be tricky, so we encourage you to watch multiple YouTube videos for tips and tricks. If the first cast does not work well, another will be needed. We have had to request customers remake casts in the past when the nail beds are not clearly defined. Manicure the cuticles prior to casting however you wish to wear them. If you are getting “natural shape” nails, to mimic/match your natural nail, please manicure (or leave natural with cuticles) nails exactly how you would like them to look prior to casting. If you would like them longer, you do not need to grow out your nails before casting, but be sure to discuss with Willie the length you want them to be from cuticle to tip. This is why we have a phone appointment to discuss details. Do not alter the cast yourself if there are imperfections. We request you send photos or a video of the casted fingers to Willie, before physically sending them over, to ensure they are good to work with. If you have ordered less than 10 nails but are considering buying more in the future, be sure to cast all 10 fingers so we can keep them on file for future orders. You do not need to cast your entire hand/s. Keep hands apart and fingers spread for the casting. Once your hand cast is approved, Willie will text you the address to ship your cast to! If you are planning to order nails, this is a step you can do prior to ordering or speaking to Willie to speed up the process. In the rare event your cast was inaccurate and a nail does not fit when you receive them, we’ll work to make it right. We’re all about excellence, and we want you to love your nails!
